Cervical cancer starts small, so it might not cause symptoms at first. But as it grows, it can cause some signs that something isn't right in your body. Here are some things to look out for:

Abnormal bleeding: If you have bleeding between your periods, after sex, or after menopause, it's essential to take note. Unusual bleeding can be a sign that something is off.

Pain during sex: If sex is painful for you, especially if it's a new development, it could be due to cervical cancer. This pain might occur because the cancer is affecting the tissues in your cervix.

Unusual discharge: Keep an eye on any changes in your vaginal discharge. If it becomes heavy, smelly, or blood-stained, it's worth getting it checked out.

Pelvic pain: You might feel pain or pressure in your pelvis, which could be a sign that the cancer has spread beyond your cervix.

Pain while peeing: Cervical cancer can sometimes cause discomfort or pain while urinating.

Lower back pain: Sometimes, cervical cancer can cause pain in your lower back. If this pain is persistent and doesn't seem related to other activities, it's worth investigating.

Weight loss and fatigue: If you're losing weight without trying or feeling unusually tired, it could be a sign that something's not right in your body, including cervical cancer.

Remember, these symptoms don't always mean you have cervical cancer. They could be caused by other things too. But if you notice any of these signs, it's essential to talk to a doctor. The earlier cervical cancer is caught, the easier it is to treat. Regular check-ups and screenings can also help catch any issues early on. Your health is essential, so don't hesitate to reach out for help if you're worried.

Early cervical cancer can be quiet, so sometimes there are no clear signs at first. Still, a few things often come up in stories women share:

  • Bleeding that does not fit your usual pattern, for example after sex, between periods, or once your periods have already stopped

  • Discharge that has changed, such as becoming more watery, mixed with blood, or having a strong or unusual smell

  • Pain during sex

  • A steady ache low in the tummy or pelvis that is new and does not settle

These symptoms are usually caused by something less serious, like an infection or a hormonal issue, but they are still worth taking seriously. If you notice any of this for more than a short time, it is a good idea to get checked.

@dhruvs If these kinds of symptoms come and go instead of staying all the time, would you still see them as a reason to get checked for possible cervical changes?
