Dr. Rakesh Sharma completed his MBBS before pursuing advanced surgical training through a DNB in General Surgery, followed by a DNB in Urology. To further strengthen his expertise in urological cancers, he completed a prestigious Fellowship in Uro-Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, one of India's leading cancer care institutions. He also holds the distinctions of FAIS (Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of India), FMAS (Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery), and MNAMS (Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences). His extensive academic background, combined with specialized training in robotic and minimally invasive urological surgery, enables him to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care for a wide range of urological cancers.
Dr. Rakesh Sharma previously worked as a Senior Registrar in the Department of Uro-Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, where he gained valuable experience in uro-oncology. He also served as an Oncology Specialist at the Tata Cancer Research Memorial Institute, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients while strengthening his expertise in oncology care.
Dr. Rakesh Sharma has earned recognition for his outstanding contributions to uro-oncology, robotic surgery, and academic excellence. He received the Chandigarh Best Video Prize at USICON 2019 and the Brij Kishore Patna Best Paper Award at USICON 2020 for his clinical and research achievements. He has successfully performed over 10,000 uro-oncology surgeries, including 1,000+ robotic procedures and 5,000+ laparoscopic surgeries. he leads the Robotic Uro-Oncology Program and serves as the Program Director for fellowship training in uro-oncology and robotic surgery. He has trained more than 50 urologists, authored numerous scientific publications, and regularly participates as a faculty member, speaker, and live surgical demonstrator at national and international conferences, contributing significantly to advancements in urological cancer care and surgical education.
